Convert the Glyceraldehyde phosphate into Dihydroxyacetone phosphate

Things could be easier.

Remember that lactate has a carboxyl group on carbon 1. One way to make a carboxyl group is to oxidise an aldehyde group. So the pathway will be easier starting with two molecules of glyceraldehyde phosphate than with two molecules of dihydroxyacetone phosphate.
