Step Five - Reduction of Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate

Possible but not a good idea.

To get closer to lactate you need to oxidise at carbon 1 and reduce at carbon 3. However carbon 3 has a phosphate group in the way. It might be better to think about the oxidation part first (and making ATP).
